International Overdose Awareness Day is a global event held on 31 August each year and aims to raise awareness of overdose and reduce the stigma of a substance-related death. The impact felt by families and friends it is important to raise awareness on how substance overdose death is preventable. In Ireland hundreds of people die each year from substance overdose and they are from all walks of life.
